Project Controls Manager

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Controls Manager to join our team for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility build project. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in project controls for large-scale construction projects, particularly in the pharmaceutical or related manufacturing sectors. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring project schedules, costs, and performance metrics to ensure successful project completion within budget and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Scheduling:
    Develop and manage the overall project schedule, ensuring all project phases are adequately planned and resources are properly allocated. Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to align schedules and deliverables.
  • Cost Management and Budgeting:
    Create and maintain project budgets, including cost estimates, forecasting, and tracking of actual costs versus projected budgets. Monitor project spending to control costs and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Performance Tracking:
    Implement performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project progress, identifying any deviations from the plan. Provide early warnings and implement corrective actions as necessary to keep the project on track.
  • Risk Management:
    Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to address potential project risks, ensuring proactive identification and resolution of issues. Collaborate with project teams to assess the impact of changes and delays.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    Generate comprehensive project reports for stakeholders, detailing progress, financial status, risks, and upcoming milestones. Maintain accurate project documentation including schedules, cost reports, and change orders.
  • Change Management:
    Manage and document all changes to the project scope, ensuring any adjustments to budgets or timelines are accurately reflected in project controls and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Communication:
    Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to coordinate efforts and provide transparency on project status. Facilitate regular meetings to review progress and address concerns.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    Ensure that project controls align with industry best practices and compliance requirements, particularly those relevant to pharmaceutical manufacturing. Monitor adherence to project plans and quality standards.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, CCP) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project controls for large-scale construction or capital projects, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industries. Experience in schedule management, cost control, and risk management.
  • Proficiency with project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar. Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), cost forecasting, and scheduling techniques.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry standards, regulations (e.g., FDA, GMP), and quality control practices for construction and manufacturing facility projects.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work in a collaborative environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with construction in regulated environments, such as FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and cost reporting tools.
  • Experience with capital project commissioning, validation, and qualification processes.
