Contract Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Contract Engineer to join our team for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility build project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering, with specific experience in the pharmaceutical or related industries. You will be responsible for overseeing various aspects of the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements. Your role will include coordination, planning, and execution of contract activities related to the design, installation, and validation of manufacturing systems within the new facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination:
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, contractors, vendors, and engineering teams, to ensure successful project execution. Provide engineering expertise during all phases of the project, from planning to commissioning.
  • Contract Management:
    Develop, review, and negotiate contracts related to the facility build. Ensure that contractual obligations are met, including timelines, deliverables, and quality standards. Maintain effective relationships with contractors and vendors throughout the project duration.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
    Ensure that all project-related activities comply with FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other industry standards. Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Site Supervision:
    Oversee construction and installation activities on-site to ensure that they are being completed according to engineering plans and specifications. Ensure adherence to safety standards and project timelines.
  • System Integration and Validation:
    Support the design and integration of systems and equipment into the facility. Participate in the validation and qualification of systems, ensuring compliance with both company and regulatory standards.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    Assist in managing project budgets, identifying resource requirements, and allocating resources effectively. Monitor project costs and recommend cost-saving measures when possible.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
    Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for contracts, change orders, and project deliverables. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Problem Solving and Risk Mitigation:
    Identify potential issues or risks during the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies. Provide solutions to engineering challenges that may arise during construction or installation.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for improving processes related to contract management and engineering tasks. Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends that may benefit the project.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related field). Advanced degrees or certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Contract Engineer, preferably within the pharmaceutical or regulated manufacturing industry. Experience in large-scale facility build projects is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with engineering design, construction processes, and contract management in a regulated industry. Understanding of facility systems, equipment installation, and commissioning in pharmaceutical manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of FDA regulations, GMP, and industry standards related to pharmaceutical facility construction and validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in facility design and construction for cleanrooms or other controlled environments.
  • Familiarity with commissioning and validation protocols.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience with contract negotiations for large capital projects.
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards and protocols.
