Chemical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer to join our team for the design, development, and construction of a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and process aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical industry standards (cGMP, FDA, etc.), and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful completion of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Design & Development:
    • Lead the design and development of chemical and biochemical processes for the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, ensuring safety, efficiency, and scalability.
    • Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and mass and energy balances.
    • Select and specify appropriate chemical equipment (e.g., reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, filtration systems) for manufacturing processes.
  • Facility Design & Construction Support:
    • Work closely with architects, civil engineers, and construction teams to integrate chemical process requirements into the facility design.
    • Assist in the layout of the facility to optimize chemical processes and material flow.
    • Ensure that facility design meets Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and complies with local and international regulations.
  • Process Optimization & Validation:
    • Optimize chemical processes for cost, energy consumption, and environmental impact while maintaining product quality.
    • Develop process validation protocols, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
    • Participate in commissioning and validation activities for process equipment and utilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations such as FDA, EMA, and local health authorities, as well as safety and environmental regulations.
    • Prepare technical documentation and reports for regulatory submissions.
    • Conduct risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA) and implement corrective actions to address any potential safety or operational issues.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality assurance, operations, procurement, and maintenance.
    • Liaise with contractors, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure that the project stays on track and within budget.
    • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to resolve any process-related issues during the construction and start-up phases.
  • Safety & Environmental Considerations:
    • Ensure that all chemical engineering designs and processes adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Implement hazard control measures such as containment, filtration, and waste treatment to minimize environmental impact.
    • Conduct safety audits and participate in accident investigations related to process hazards.
