Engineering Manager, Renewable Energy

The Engineering Manager for Renewable Energy will lead and manage engineering teams dedicated to the design, development, and implementation of renewable energy projects. This role encompasses overseeing all engineering activities from conceptual design through to commissioning, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies aligned with renewable energy objectives.
  • Oversee resource allocation, project schedules, budgets, and workflow management.
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements.
  • Manage the design and engineering of renewable energy systems (solar, wind, hydro, biomass, storage, inverters, and switchgear).
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide progress reports via KPI dashboards and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop maintenance packages and handover documents for new plant and equipment.
  • Offer technical guidance, review designs, and optimize solutions for cost and performance.
  • Lead problem-solving for equipment failures and performance deviations.
  • Engage with stakeholders, clients, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Support business development with technical expertise in proposals and bids.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 4 years in a managerial role within the renewable energy sector. Core experience in site electrical reticulation systems, renewables generation, and related systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field) with a preference for applicants with Electrical Engineering degrees. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in renewable energy or project management are a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable energy systems, including design, analysis, and implementation. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams. Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience managing large-scale renewable energy projects, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations, codes, and standards related to renewable energy.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred. PMP or similar project management certification is a plus.
  • Basic fluency in German is a big advantage, fluent in English as a basic.
