Instrumentation Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to join our team for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility build project. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of instrumentation systems, with a strong focus on pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for the design, installation, and validation of instrumentation systems, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. This role is critical in driving the success of the facility build project and ensuring its operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrumentation Design and Installation:
    Design and specify instrumentation systems for various manufacturing processes. Oversee installation and integration of instrumentation devices, ensuring proper calibration and configuration for accurate process control and measurement.
  • Project Coordination:
    Collaborate with project managers, automation engineers, and external vendors to ensure timely and effective project execution. Act as a key technical resource, providing expertise on instrumentation and control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Compliance and Validation:
    Ensure instrumentation systems comply with FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other relevant industry standards. Develop and execute validation protocols, conduct tests, and maintain necessary documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • System Calibration and Testing:
    Lead the calibration and testing of instrumentation systems to ensure precision and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to instrumentation performance, making adjustments as needed to optimize system functionality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, calibrations, and validation protocols. Provide regular updates and status reports to project stakeholders, highlighting any issues or changes in project scope.
  • Training and Support:
    Provide training and support to operations and maintenance teams on the correct usage and maintenance of instrumentation systems. Develop user manuals and technical guides to ensure long-term system sustainability.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify and implement improvements in instrumentation technologies and processes to enhance system performance, efficiency, and accuracy. Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Instrumentation Engineer) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within a pharmaceutical or related manufacturing environment. Experience with system design, installation, and validation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation devices, sensors, and control systems, including their configuration, calibration, and maintenance. Proficiency in process control, data acquisition, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems.
  • Thorough understanding of FDA regulations, GMP, and other applicable industry standards. Experience with system validation and maintaining compliance in a regulated environment.
