Planning Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Planning Engineer to join our team for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility build project. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project planning, scheduling, and resource management, preferably within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors. You will be responsible for developing detailed project schedules, ensuring that project timelines are met, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules for the construction and commissioning of the pharmaceutical facility. This includes defining project milestones, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Resource Management: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure adequate allocation of resources (materials, personnel, equipment) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track project progress against the baseline schedule, identify any potential delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain on-time delivery. Prepare regular progress reports and updates for stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and identify potential issues that may affect the project timeline or budget. Implement mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including construction, engineering, procurement, and regulatory teams, to align schedules and priorities. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors as needed.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all project schedules and plans comply with FDA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and other industry standards relevant to pharmaceutical facility builds.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of project schedules, resource plans, risk assessments, and progress reports. Ensure accurate record-keeping and timely updates to all stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline planning processes, enhance resource efficiency, and improve overall project execution. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging project management methodologies.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMI-SP, PMP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors. Experience with facility build projects is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project). Strong understanding of project scheduling techniques, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, GMP, and other relevant industry standards, particularly in a pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and organizational abilities. Proven capacity to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing facility projects or large-scale industrial construction.
  • Knowledge of Lean construction principles and practices.
  • Advanced project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP).
